Guide to XR and STC Magazines

After selecting an automatic tip changer, the next step is identifying what type of magazine to use. Our standard and most common magazine types are the STC and XR magazines.

STC Magazine

Compact design
Lightweight
Able to accommodate tight clearance guns & pinch guns
Accommodates 12 tips per cartridge for standard 16mm b-nose cap

The STC is a linear style magazine that indexes the tips with a spring-loaded mechanism. Benefits for this magazine style include a compact and lightweight design, which allows for compatibility with small weld cells and end-of-arm tooling.

The system is also compatible with a wide variety of different cap and gun designs. It can accommodate up to 12 tips per cartridge for standard 16mm b-nose electrodes.

XR Magazine

Compatible in all orientations of a tip changer
Able to accommodate a wider selection of specialty tips
Built-in compatibility for additional advanced sensor options
Durable round magazine design
Accommodates 13 cap tips per cartridge for standard 16mm b-nose cap

The XR is our newest round style magazine that consists of a rotary drum where each electrode has its own position. XR magazines are compatible in all orientations of the tip changer due to the secure O-ring and versatile design. This magazine style allows for the usage of offset and eccentric caps.

The design has built in sensor options that lets customers integrate the level of error detection that meets their standards. The durable design ensures the user is able to withstand the rough environment of a spot welding cell.
